The Handmade Paper Workshop marked the conclusion of the training cycle of the From & To People program. Led by artist and researcher Mohamed Amine Hammouda, a member of the project’s scientific committee, the workshop explored the potential of paper and plant-fiber waste generated through artisanal practices.
The workshop introduced participants to handmade paper production through a practical process of learning and experimentation. By working directly with the materials, participants explored how plant fibers and paper waste could be transformed into new sheets, discovering the possibilities offered by their textures, structures, and physical properties.
At the heart of this experience was a shift in perspective: materials and by-products often considered waste can become resources for further exploration and creative production. The workshop encouraged participants to examine the potential of these materials and consider how they might be reused and reinterpreted through artisanal and artistic practices.
As the final workshop in the training cycle, this experience brought together the program’s central principles of material awareness, experimentation, and knowledge exchange. It concluded a period of collective learning while preparing the ground for the next stages of From & To People, where the knowledge and experiences developed throughout the workshops will inform further exploration, design, and production.
