The "Cultural Journalism bootcamp 01" took place from January 29th to February 1st, 2024, at "No Name Artistic Studio Lab" in Gabes, Tunisia. The camp brought together journalists, media professionals, and students interested in the field to promote the exchange of expertise and knowledge. With the assistance of the facilitator Habib Trabelsi, various types of coverage and press sources were discussed, along with communication and interaction techniques in the cultural sector. 4000 Km Untitled Art Bootcamp Interviews
In recognition of the necessity of valuing African cultural heritage and enhancing the values of solidarity and peace, "Danseurs Citoyens Sud" organization hosted a group of specialized artists in performing and visual arts within the context of an artistic boot camp titled "4000 km untitled." The camp took place from February 5th to February 12th, 2024, at "No Name" artistic studio lab in Gabes, Tunisia. It aimed to depict the political, economic, social, environmental, and historical impacts that affect the lives of the inhabitants of the African continent as they head towards the northern shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Additionally, the initiative highlighted the natural resources and intangible African heritage shared between the North and South of the African continent. Danseurs Citoyens Sud organized the “Cultural Journalism Bootcamp 01” between January 29th and February 1st, 2024 at “No Name” artistic studio lab, Gabes, Tunisia. The camp brought together journalists, media professionals, and students interested in the field to promote the exchange of expertise and knowledge.With the assistance of the facilitator Habib Trabelsi, various types of coverage and press sources were discussed, along with communication and interaction techniques in the cultural sector. As part of the camp’s practical aspect, "Danseurs Citoyens Sud" organized a forum on January 31th, 2024. The event brought together a group of artists and journalists in order to employ the sessions’ guidelines and brainstorm effective ways of communication and interaction between both parties. Through this discussion, the idea of establishing links between journalistic work and the cultural field emerged in a manner that corresponds to the expectations and goals of both sides. This initiative essentially seeks to empower and support journalists in enhancing the cultural and artistic scene in southern Tunisia and contributing to the development of cultural journalism as a whole.
Spontaneous Sensibility Interviews
“Spontaneous Sensibility” is an art bootcamp hosted by Danseurs Citoyens Sud organization from December 24 to December 27, 2023. During the bootcamp, participants explored and applied the concept of mobile topology in the region of Gabes through various artistic mediums, including geometric forms, video art, manual skills, and circus arts. In the same context, Danseurs Citoyens Sud conducted a series of interviews with the circus team. H² is an art bootcamp themed around “Music as a healing tool”. It was held from December 2nd to December 6th, 2023 at “No Name - Artistic Studio Lab” in Gabes, Tunisia. Upon the completion of the sessions, Danseurs Citoyens Sud conducted a set of Interviews involving experts and participants. This opportunity allowed them to share their feedback regarding the overall artistic experience and express their perspectives on music as a powerful tool to enhance mutual understanding and foster unity. As part of H² Art Bootcamp, Amjed, an expert within the program, took the opportunity to share his personal journey as an experienced artist and trainer. Art Bootcamp “Current” Interviews: Amikaeyla Gaston (Trainer)
Amikaeyla Gaston is a gifted vocalist and a creative performer with a rich musical background. As the founder and executive director of the International Cultural Arts & Healing Sciences Institute, she has dedicated herself to the world of arts and healing. Furthermore, she serves as a cultural ambassador representing the United States State Department. Her journey in the world of music and performance began at the tender age of four when she embarked on classical piano training. It didn't take long for her to captivate audiences with her immense talent, performing alongside the National Symphony and gracing the stages of theatrical and musical productions. Art Bootcamp “Current” Interviews: Participants
In an effort to enrich the cultural and artistic landscape in marginalized regions in the South of Tunisia, Danseurs Citoyens Sud worked on empowering Tunisian emerging young artists through cross-cultural collaborations. In October 2023, DCS organized, in collaboration with Company E, an art Bootcamp entitled “Current” and themed around the relationship between humans and water across various cultures. This significant topic has been tackled through different forms of performing arts at No Name artistic studio lab in Gabes,Tunisia. In this interview, our participants share feedback on the overall endeavor as well as their personal opinions regarding the bootcamp’s topic. They equally share insight into their experience with the three American artists who mentored them throughout the whole period of training. Art Bootcamp “Current” Interviews: Robert J.Priore (Trainer)
Robert J. Priore is a multifaceted artist in the world of dance, serving as a professional dancer, choreographer, and artistic director. In 2016, he founded PrioreDance and takes pride in being a founding member of Company E in Washington. As an outstanding artist, he received grants for original works from the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities. He created a nationally televised piece for the Mark Twain Prize Award Ceremony in 2018 and won the Pola Nirenska Memorial Award in 2019.
