Danseurs Citoyens Sud (DCS) was launched in May 2015 as a progressive youth movement with a strong focus on dance and performing arts. Initially conceived as a space for young people to express themselves creatively, it quickly evolved into an independent organization that promotes artistic innovation, civic engagement, and cultural dialogue. Through workshops, performances, and community projects, DCS empowers youth to use dance not only as a form of artistic expression but also as a tool for social transformation and collective awareness.
Through the years, the association’s vision has expanded, and its programs grew to include a wider range of artistic performing and visual productions as well as an increased focus on playing a transformative social and political role in the fields of arts and culture and the protection of artistic freedom and cultural rights. . We are currently drafting DCS’ long-term strategy as well as defining the organization’s Operating Model to ensure an effective and robust implementation of our future aspirations and continue to systematically uphold our philosophy and values.

In the future, we seek to further deepen our engagement with local actors in the MENA region and the global South by strengthening long-term partnerships and fostering genuine cross-border collaborations. Our goal is to expand our collective strategies in ways that consolidate decentralization, cultural and otherwise, while encouraging the emergence of inclusive and resilient ecosystems. Through this process, we aim to promote sustainability, support artistic rights, and ensure the empowerment of local voices within broader cultural dynamics.
We look forward to a cohesive and diverse Tunisian society that contributes to creating a pioneering and creative cultural scene, and firmly believes in the importance of developing sustainable cultural policies that prioritize artistic and creative industries. These policies should also guarantee the rights of all citizens, especially in difficult, remote, and marginalized areas, to freely access culture by promoting and consolidating the system of cultural decentralization. We also aspire to use art as a transformative means of resistance in light of the ongoing geopolitical transformations in the Arab region.
We contribute to enriching and strengthening the Tunisian and Arab cultural scene by supporting diverse forms of artistic expression, promoting inclusive practices, and opening new spaces for dialogue. Our mission is to enshrine the principle of decentralization and make culture accessible to all, regardless of background or geography. We believe that art can be a powerful tool of resistance, creativity, and solidarity, capable of inspiring change and defending freedoms. Through our message, we remain committed to the issues, struggles, and aspirations of peoples.
DCS plays the role of catalyst for artistic experiences with different target groups and acts as a bridge to the international scene by promoting collaboration and providing opportunities. We aspire to be a springboard for emerging artists in southern Tunisia while ensuring quality productions and supporting the artists we accompany. Moreover, we are committed to strengthening the ecosystem through collaborative work that connects culture with other vital fields. Our role is to encourage resilience, protect artistic freedom, and contribute to building a sustainable cultural life for society.
